Transantiago Price Rises 2010

The prices of the Santiago transport system known as Transantiago went up today.

As of 17th of May 2010 the prices are the following:
Student fare: $150 (was $140)
Bus fare: $450 (was $430)

The bus system costs the same any time of day whereas the Metro (subway) has a tiered rate of Peak (7-9am and 6-8pm) and Normal (rest of the day).

Metro Peak: $510 (was $490)
Metro Normal: $450 (was $430)

There will be another price rise of around the same amount on the 17th of June and an additional rise every other month until October.

As mentioned prices went up again today.
The Metro is now $560 at peak time ($50 peso increase) whereas the rest of the time it is $460 ($10 peso increase)
Students now pay $160 ($10 peso increase)
