One of Chile’s most important wineries, Concha y Toro has signed a deal with English football club Manchester United to become one of its official brands.
This new sponsorship deal will mean the Chilean winery will be sharing digital billboard space at Old Trafford Stadium for home games that are televised around the world. Not only that, this deal allows Concha y Toro to have its wines present in the stadium lounges and boxes as well as allowing the vineyard’s VIP customers to preferential treatment at home games. I wonder how much I will have to drink to be considered a VIP customer.
Well, I started with the two bottles I got for the photo above. The left bottle is a Merlot (my second favourite grape after Carmenere) and the right bottle is a Sauvignon Blanc (wife’s favourite).
Oh yeah, back to the story… The official announcement of this agreement will happen in August this year via a press conference at Old Trafford with the club manager and members of team being present.
Meanwhile Sir Alex Ferguson, DT of Manchester United commented: “This is a partnership that unites the two great passions in Latin America: football and wine. I’m looking forward to it.”
There is a synergy between the two brands with Manchester United being called the Red Devils and Concha y Toro’s leading brand Casillero del Diablo (Devil’s cellar).
