Chile Forest Fire Photos

Last weekend there was a large forest fire just outside of Valparaiso / Viña del Mar.
We were in Viña when it first started and we heard fire engines screaming down the road. We looked towards where they were going and we saw large clouds of smoke billowing across the sky.

We didn’t pay much more attention to it.

It wasn’t until we were on our way back to a friend’s apartment in Con Con (Chilean coastal town) that we noticed the wind blowing had blown the ash cloud towards where we were. It started covering the cars and eventually blocked out the sun as can be seen in the photos. It was quite apocalyptic looking.

I haven’t added filters or changed the photos in any way …. mainly because I don’t know how to :)

Mental note … I must learn to walk with my mouth closed.

Liked your post, I heard in this season Chile can get a little too hot and they start having lot of fires. I was very sad when I knew about hose terribles fires in Torres del Paine, such a unique an beautiful place being devastated by the fire.

Mental note: You definitely need to learn to close your mouth when all around you is smelling like smoke! 😉

I hated what happened with the fires in Torres del Paine. So frustrating how they started from human stupidity.

Regarding Mental Note: I have also discovered that walking with your mouth closed also stops you from accidentally swallowing flies. :)

This was a rather odd sight. The sky was so strange…it was a bright sunny day in Valparaiso, and there was this division in the sky and it looked like this in Vina.
