Caleta Portales Restaurant in Valparaiso, Chile.

Eating out in Valparaiso
One restaurant in Valparaiso you should put on the top of your list is “Caleta Portales” on Av. España.
It is situated right on the water front between Viña and Valparaiso. It is impossible to miss as it is easily recognized by the shark which is hanging in front of the restaurant (see the photo above). Inside the restaurant you will feel like being on a boat as the decoration is made up by sails, sharks, ropes, etc.

I can whole-heartedly recommend all the food we tried. Everything was excellent! I would even call it one of the best seafood restaurants in my life!
As a starter we had “Ceviche de salmon y corvina”, (raw salmon and sea bass), followed by “machas a la parmesana” (class covered with parmesan cheese). Normally I’m not a big fan of shellfish, but these ones were just incredible. For the main dishes we ordered locos apanados (crumbed abalone) and camarones (shrimps). There is also a large selection for deserts and my pick was the flan de coco (coconut flan). Make sure to try the “Pisco sour” as well! Delicious!
